Just found out that Marvell's digital video format converter received the EDN Innnovation Award for Multimedia ICs! It's amazing to know that the product made by our group has won this award. It's a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Well, in reality, it's won by another team within our business unit, but we're located on the same floor, so...

Broadcom samples real-time HD video/audio transcoder with their BCM7043 SOC. It also uses 65nm technology, and can support H.264, MPEG2, and MPEG4 SP. Looks like our target exactly.

CommsDesign - Minerva Networks, Nortel team on IPTV

CommsDesign has an old article on Minerva Networks, Nortel teaming up to deliver API for real-time IPTV services. The API is based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), which sounds familiar enough. Probably worth looking into a bit further.

This is what I imagined we could bundle with our multimedia processor: Locura™ Personal Personal Media Server is a server sitting on your PC serving multimedia contents to your PSP for playback. Seems like the video needs to be in some kind of PSP format, though. At only $30 bucks, the price is right, too.
